The importance of Vehicle Maintenance

Our cars are powerful and complex machines, performing feats of great speed and power while we are lucky to be able to get to the mailbox without losing our breath. Despite their strength, our vehicles are not immune to problems or breakdowns. Cars still fall victim to service issues and, for the most part, the newer they are the more likely they are to do so. This is not due to the subpar mechanics or parts manufactured overseas. On the other hand, the most common cause of a breakdown can be credited to the owner's negligence. Here are a few things that need to be maintained on a regular basis:

Engine Oil and other fluids

The most important thing to remember when owning a vehicle is that they have fluid in them just like we do. Our bodies need fluid to live just as your car needs oil, transmission fluid, and water with antifreeze to function properly. It is important to remember to check these things on a regular basis. If you hear strange noises coming from under the hood, or if the vehicle seems to be running a little hotter than normal it would be wise to check all fluids.

This seems like a pretty important part of a vehicle, right? But, most people don't know that maintaining their brakes is important for more than just making sure your vehicle stops. If you allow your brake pads to wear down to the steel, you could be headed for some expensive repairs. Rotors and even rems can be affected by a pair of overused brakes.

The moral of the story is to ensure you keep your vehicle on a strict maintenance schedule. If you're not sure how to check something then head on down to Knauz Auto Park to make sure a professional says your car is safe to drive.
