Post-Winter Service Tips To Follow

2000 × 500

The winter season, especially in the great state of Illinois, can be harsh on your vehicle. Heavy snowfalls, severe storms, and icy conditions can take a collective toll on your car, truck, or SUV model. As soon as winter ends and the weather improves, there is nothing like a fantastic road trip to properly greet the springtime. The staff at Knauz Autopark wants you to be able to enjoy your travels and not be slowed down by any minor maintenance issues. That is why we have put together a list of tips that you can do right at home before you schedule a service appointment with our experienced service department. These tips include:

- Check Your Tires. One of our first suggestions is to look over your tires. If you currently have snow tires on, make a service appointment with us to swap them out for regular tires. If you drive on all-season radials, then it is a good idea to let us rotate them.

- Look Over Your Windshield Wiper Blades. Your windshield wiper blades can really take a beating during winter, especially because they have to clear away all that heavy Illinois snow away from your view. They can also become corroded from the salt used on the roads all winter. At Knauz Autopark, we suggest that you carefully inspect them and replace if necessary.

- Inspect Your Vehicle’s Exterior. It is important to examine how the exterior of your car, truck, or SUV model held up during the winter. Wet conditions, salt on the road, and bumpy terrains can form rust all over your paint job and even wear down your underside. You can use a high-pressure sprayer to remove any salt build-up, or bring your vehicle to Knauz Autopark and we will make it shine like it is brand-new.

- Check Your Fluid Levels. Be sure to inspect your antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid, since they can be rapidly depleted by winter use. If that is the case, then you should top them off.

- Examine Your Brakes. Your brakes are heavily used during your winter drives. That can put major stress on them, causing them to break down faster. Make sure you listen for any grinding or squealing noises when you are traveling down the road. Even if you can’t hear any, it is still a good idea to have your brakes checked by our experienced staff.

At Knauz Autopark, we hope that these tips will help you prepare your vehicle for all of your springtime adventures. We are here to give you the maintenance that you deserve. Schedule your spring service appointment with us today!
